ELAFF’s 9th Annual Film Festival “Storytelling for Empowerment” produced by Bienvenidos, East LA College, Eastmont Community Center, Hillsides and The East LA Society of Film & Arts (TELASOFA) will be held at East LA College and Raleigh Studios on October 14 & 15, 2016.
This year ELAFF is celebrating producer Katy Haber’s career. She is best known for her work on Blade Runner (1982) with the legendary director Ridley Scott. Ms. Haber is also known for her collaboration with Sam Peckinpah on Straw Dogs, Junior Bonner, The Getaway, Pat Gareett And Billy The Kid, Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia, Killer Elite and Convoy.

Tino hopes his dream of becoming a “Muxe Queen” will come true. As a homosexual child, struggles to resolve his past and overcome his poverty.
Intimate journey to the heart of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, where there exists a third gender identity, which is neither a man nor a woman, but a Muxe (a Zapotec homosexual). The region is known for the strength of its women and this “magical town” – lost in the wild heel of Mexico – seeks a free and diverse society dominated by femininity – courageous women and men dressed as women.

Katy Haber Bio
Katy Haber is best known for her work on Blade Runner (1982) as well as her collaboration with Sam Peckinpah on Straw Dogs, Junior Bonner, The Getaway, Pat Gareett And Billy The Kid, Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia, Killer Elite and Convoy. She is a Founding Member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles and has been a Board Member for 23 years.
She was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2012 Queen’s New Years Honours List for her services to the community in Los Angeles, California. She is on the Board of Directors of BAFTA Los Angeles and Co-Chair of the Community Education and Outreach Committee.
